How to compress an image
- Add your images. Drop them into the box above — batches are welcome.
- Pick your settings. Quality 75–85% is the sweet spot for photos. Converting PNG photos to JPG or WebP usually saves the most.
- Press Compress. Each image is re-encoded on your device, and the result list shows exactly how much you saved per file.
- Download. Save files one by one, or grab them all as a single ZIP.
Good to know
PNG compression here means re-encoding and optional resizing; a PNG screenshot full of text stays perfectly sharp, while a PNG photo shrinks far more when converted to JPG or WebP. If a result ever comes out larger than the original — possible with already-tiny files — keep the original instead. Need an image under a form's size limit? Lower the quality a few points at a time and watch the result sizes.
Frequently asked questions
What quality setting should I use?
For photos, 80% is a good default: much smaller files with no visible difference at normal viewing sizes. For images that will be zoomed or printed, try 90%.
Why did my PNG not get much smaller?
PNG is a lossless format, so re-encoding alone saves little on photos. Switch the output format to JPG or WebP, or set a max dimension — that is where the big savings are.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser using your device's own processing. Airplane-mode test it if you like — it still works.
Can I compress images in a batch?
Yes — add as many as you like, compress them together, and download everything as one ZIP file.
